Hi, I had heard of a programme all about Matt, with his family, and never managed to see it. However last night I caught it on Ch 82, really special, and so very moving yet lovely.
I only ever got to see Matt Monroe perform once when I was 13-14 years of age, he was at [I think] The Batley Variety Club, and my Mum and dad took me, what a fab night, I remember it very well, after all these years. Matt was on the stage for absolutely ages, he sung and sung.
It was a fabulous night.
Thank you
Richard

I get along without you very well, Matt, except when raindrops fall, and drip from leaves, then I recall, the thrill of being sheltered in your baritones; of course I do :/
Rest well Matt.
Beats drivin’ buses hey Buddy.

My mum 94 was a great unknown singer in her day. We listen to a lot of Matt Monro together now. Bless her she cried for a whole week revisiting “If I Never Sing Another Song” as it has a lot of meaning for her.
I love all genres of music hip hop drum n bass house etc but Matt makes me cry too especially Time After Time.
Mum is so annoyed they called Matt the Cockney Sinatra. He’s our very own Matt and beats Sinatra any day.
I wish I could find a poster of him with that cheeky grin for her

\'Portrait of My Love\' by Matt was chosen for my mum\'s funeral as her favourite song and everybody was visibly moved. My dad who is 87 and still performs, singing, writing music and playing keyboard and guitar, introduced me to Matt back in the 1970s and would regularly perform \'Walk Away\'. I collect and play the music cds and was lucky enough to hear you and your brother interviewed by Eric Hall (RIP) on BBC Essex ?

Un cantante excepcional. No me canso de oirlo. EL tema para la película de James Bond es muy bueno.

I listen to all types of music, from classical, Jazz, to funk, hip-hop and indies. MM trancends time and genre, and I\'m grateful for his art and recordings. I don\'t believe there\'s anyone who can listen to say....leaving on a jet plane, on days like these, born free......and not be moved. Cheers.

Matt has a voice that keeps you coming back for more. It’s way too bad that we lost Matt at such a young age. I’m listening to one of his albums at this moment. One of my favorite songs was the Theme from Sand Pebbles, “And We Were Lovers”
I think I will give it another spin right now.

My childhood (born 1954) was through the 1960s & Matt Monro crystallise all what the 1960s was about for me. From the Bond film From Russia With Love to Sunday Night at the London Palladium on the telly. Matt Monro was in my book, the King of the Crooners, with a voice quality which was truly unique. As I became older, I’m 66 now, I can appreciate what he done even more.
