Great website, thank you. I am ex.RAF now retired and a full-time author of aviation history books. My new project is a book covering RAF operations in the Far East from India in 1915 to Hong Kong in 1997. This will be made up of stories I have gathered over very many years from people who were there. I would welcome contact with anyone here who would like to join in. I would also like to have permission to use some of the great photos on here please, properly credited of course.

A message for Maureen Paxton. The photograph of The Boyfriend with two people - Tony was my boyfriend (of sorts if parents allowed!) in 1962/3 and his name is Dennis Evans and his parents were station at RAF Tengah.

Canterbury

I was posted to Tengah from RAF Benson 14 December 1974. My wife had to leave the RAF to accompany me as her trade (telephonist) wasn’t available in Singapore. We lived on the 7th floor of the flats at Chip Bee and we had an Amah. We returned for the first time last June and although we had seen programmes on TV showing modern Singapore we were amazed. Where our humble flat was in now an apartment valued at over 3.5 million SGD. we also visited Penang this time staying in the Rasa Sayang hotel rather than climbing the fence from the Aussie leave centre to get to the posh beach as we had done during a one week leave trip courtesy of flights from tengah to Butterworth with a Dakota and Bristol Freighter.

So Lynne knew Lydia Lockey. So did I. Met her in Portsmouth in the 60\'s. At the fair near Southsea. Still have a small photo.One of those ships in the night meetings. Good looking girl though.

We lived in Taman Serasi, Singapore, from 1969 to 1971. Very happy memories of Bourne school, I was 11 to 13 years old.My dad worked for GCHQ somewhere on the island...very hush hush!

We were in Singapore (Changi) from 1958-60. Dad, Rev Philip Schofield, was the Padre of PMUB church. He was also a ventriloquist and magician and did a lot of entertainment. I went to the junior school. We lived in Upper Changi Road. I have a sister Anne and my.late brother was Philip.

I am wondering if anyone can help me please.

My father Royal Navy Petty Officer D J Somerville was in Singapore 1970-71. I went to school there at 5 years old.

Lucy Childs posted a school class photo and I am in it but other than that I have no details.

I am planning to visit Singapore later this year and would love to retrace my steps but gaining any information from Royal Navy has revealed my father was on HMS Forth but other than that nothing and they cannot help me.

If any one can help/remember/point me in the right direction I would be very, very grateful.
