Here I sit and comtimplate what I can say to sum up our relationship. The truth is words cannot explain the bond we have shared. You have always been a role model--someone I look up to, someone i cherish and someone i care for deeply. You have always been there for me with a guiding hand and for this I am forever grateful. I've been thinking about what to say here for weeks and I'm still at a loss for words. When you left, you took my daughter, my sister (I always wanted), my partner in crime, and my best (girl) friend with you. I miss you terribly but I'm happy, because you're happy. I can hear it in your voice and see it in your face. You have always been the perfect daughter.
You are finally having the "dream come true" wedding you've always wanted. We are looking so forward to seeing you and Nathan again and we couldn't think of any better reason for traveling to the other side of the world, than to be going to your wedding.

I have so many memories with Stacie that I have tried to narrow it down to the ones that mean most to me. On the 4th of July weekend 1999, Stacie invited me to her friend's house on the lake where they had a big celebration every year. She was doing introductions and introduced me to someone named Scott Fisher. She proceeded to tell me that Nathan had banned her from hanging out with him. Of course, that sparked my interest and here I am now, almost 3 years later, Mrs. Fisher. She had always been there for me when I had boy problems, even when she didn't agree with my decisions. She always made me feel good about myself and knew just what to say. Then when it came time for me to move to Virginia to be with Scott, she helped me make a paper chain to count down the days. And even though we were states apart, we remained close and she even planned a bachelorette party for me. I'm sure I haven't heard all the details from my husband's bachelor party in Las Vegas, but I wouldn't be surprised if mine was wilder. Stacie, Lia and Heather planned a weekend in Niagara Falls, Cananda, where there are no restrictions at "dance clubs" like there are in the U.S.
I could go on forever but I won't. I hope you have a wonderful bachelorette party!! Enjoy the rest of your time in Thailand and we look forward to seeing you in July 2003 on your 1 year anniversary! Miss you!!!! Kim

I don't even know where to start, but just thinking about you and all the great times we've had together makes me smile. I've been racking my brain trying to think of what to write - perhaps something funny, like some "blast from the past" stories for a fun round of Ex-Boyfriend Bingo? Or creative, like a Haiku in your honor. Or better still, that tasty and wonderful shower gift I know you've been dreaming of ...erotic fortune cookies.

But none of it seems to come close to expressing our friendship, or all the amazing qualities that are you. From crazy antics in Toronto (and Buffalo, and Boston, and Chicago, and Ellicottville), to late nights crying over whatever fool boy was driving either one of us crazy at the time. From hoisting you through windows at 5am (who can ever forget the sound of those nails scraping down the house siding???), to long talks about nothing and everything.

And then one day, THE phone call ... you know the one, about the new boy who was a guidance counselor at East Aurora High School. About a card, and a picnic ... and well, who'd have thought, that just when you were least expecting it, someone truly unique walks into your life and changes it forever?

I am so excited for you - that you have been able to experience so many incredible adventures over the last couple of years. Maybe neither one of us really knew the day of that phone call all the truly wonderful things that Nathan would bring into your life (not to mention some pretty impressive breakdancing moves).

So I wish you and Nathan all the best that life has to offer. While I am sad to not be able to join you on your wedding day, I am so happy that you and Nathan will share the exotic wedding you've always envisioned. They say every bride is her most breathtaking at her wedding, and I am sure you will leave Nathan gasping for air.

I am teaching at the same school in Thailand as Stacie and Nathan. When I heard their wedding news, it made me reflective. Living far away from family and your home can make you acutely aware of what your heart really desires beyond a certain time and place. All we really need we will find within ourselves and each other. I hope you both continue to discover what is within you. May love surround you both and keep you close always.

Philippines, Mississippi, then Thailand

I first met Stacie and Nathan in Iowa last year. We were attending the international schools job fair. I was keen to land a job in Thailand. Nathan had traveled to Asia before, but not Stacie who had never been out of the country. It was only the first day of the fair but they already got an offer to teach in Thailand. Throughout the 3-day weekend we kept running into each other and comparing notes. They had offers from other countries. I told Stacie to go for Thailand which they did. On the last day of the fair I also got an offer and signed a contract with the same school. We were thrilled and glad to know somebody where we were going.

I have always considered Stacie and Nathan as my first friends and extended family here in Thailand. We stayed in the same apartment on our first days and then they helped me move to my own place.

Stacie is exactly how her US friends describe her: sweet and thoughtful. She always invites me to join her and Nathan to the gymn, watch movies, take scuba lessons, travel -- although I am always unable to. I enjoy spending a quiet evening at their apartment while she cooks pasta. When I throw a party at my place Nathan always insists on washing the dishes and cleaning up the kitchen. The two of them are just precious beyond words!

Stacie and I met in unusual circumstances (through our past lives with men that were not right for us) so being happy and finding the right love has always been one of the ties that binds us. We had both been through a some trying times in relationships and so I am am thrilled for her that she has found that special love and freindhip in Nathan- just the way she was so happy for me when I found it in Jamie (my husband of almost 2 years). Stacie holds many special places in my heart: one of the being the reason I was even out the night I met Jamie, another is that she always remembers my birthdays and gets me cute little gifts (you were excused this year Stacie!, another is our annual slumber party on the night of "cut throat X-mas" and how she an Nathan helped us clean the house the next morning (missed you this year!, and without too many details, shall I just say...one year ago, Niagara Falls, Kim's bachelorette, and nothing but knee high boots!!!! The picture says it all but I hesitate to post that!

I love you Stacie and I love you and Nathan (same for Jamie too!) WE will be there in spirit with you and cannot wait to celebrate when you get home. Enjoy!!!! :-b
