Does Lighting Really Affect Gym Performance? Let’s Talk Science

Hey fitness owners and lighting pros,


I’ve been reading a lot about how gym lighting impacts workout energy, motivation, and even muscle focus. Some studies suggest cooler white light (5000K–6500K) boosts alertness, while warmer tones help with recovery and yoga sessions.




For those managing gyms or fitness centers—have you actually noticed a difference after upgrading to LED lighting? I’m considering switching to high bay LEDs with motion sensors and dimmable zones for my training floor.




Would love to hear your thoughts, especially if you’ve tried human-centric lighting or tunable LEDs that adjust during the day. Does it make workouts feel better, or is it mostly a placebo effect?
