A small, home-built plane has crashed into a building in Miami which houses the Federal Reserve Bank.
According to police there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the crash, which appears to be an accident.
The pilot of the plane died.
According to police in Miami, the small home-built experimental plane got into difficulty soon after take-off.
Aviation investigators who are now at the scene said the pilot may have encountered some turbulence from departing planes from the nearby international airport before losing control and hitting the side of the Federal Reserve Bank, which is close by.
Concerned that it was a terrorist attack, local police and FBI agents responded to the crash very quickly.
Ninety people who were attending a Christmas party inside the building were escorted to safety but no-one was hurt.
However, the pilot of the plane died at the scene.
The authorities are keen to stress that there is no indication of any terrorist link to this incident and say at this stage it would appear to be simply an accident.
