I regret the passing of the previous excellent and (too) easy to use message board. This one has added security and thus should reduce the amount of SPAM messages that get posted.
It has to be said that the old board had gone very quiet, maybe as a result of the junk that had to be cleared out every day, and this board therefore has to stand, for now, as a free version with the associated advertising. If enough people seem to want it then I am prepared to upgrade it to a paid version and remove the adverts, but right now I feel a “suck it and see” approach should be followed.
There is no need to register to use this board, and entering your e-mail address is optional.
Wish you all the best with this one and hopefully a few more messages hopefully from other groups just a thought most peoplle no there is no connection with the share company of similar name but do you think a name change not sure what to may help you.
regards
Colin
I suspect that the blocker-evader pop-ups may be putting people off posting here Philip. Which is a shame really, because an independent share boat forum is a great idea. I guess it's a catch-22 situation - unless you get more posts it would cost you to stop the popups - but I think you'll have to try to find another contender.
I suggest that anyone who wants to block advertising on this board adds the following to the list of blocked URL's in whatever antivirus software they use:-
http://jupiter
http://mercury
If you don't understand what I am talking about or are concerned about the ethics then don't try it!
On my computer this removes all advertising on this forum with the exception www.boatshare.co.uk website link.
http://jupiter.bravenet.com
and
http://mercury.bravenet.com
However, most Antivirus software will block "all URL's begining with" or require "*" as a wildcard. A bit of experimenting is called for. I would suggest that
http://jupiter.bravenet.com
and
http://mercury.bravenet.com
or
http://jupiter.bravenet.com*
and
http://mercury.bravenet.com*
should work for most AV software that supports site blocking.
It would be worthwhile reading the AV help system regarding this.
Pleased it works for you.
Regards
Allan
