40/1 second last night, but why a bad jockey

Although I backed The History Man each way and still made a nice profit last night I have to ask about the jockey that was put up to ride it.

Firstly this is definitely not me having a go at the jockey and can honestly say I never do, in fact it seemed that the jockey here Adele Rothery claiming 7 pounds did nearly all she could and can certainly ride way better than I ever could.

My point is, if the horse was going to run so well as it did, surely the trainer would have half an incling of this and choose to put a better, stronger, probably male jockey on board. I would have to think this would have given the horse (and me) an even better chance of winning.

The only other way is that it was a complete surprise to all but I don't think so, I think the trainer would have an idea a good run is on the cards?

Any thoughts welcome.
