Re: Trying out some ideas

'' 2.00 Ludlow, Marodima Won 1/7 '' if your bcking at these odds your doomed to failure. Unless you can find 5/2 shots that should be odds on then you cant make a meaningfull profit from racing , you need some guts and back the longer odds horses that can win. I would enlighten you but i need to protect my prices ! Genuine contructive comment so dont berate me for being otherwise.

Re: Trying out some ideas

The selections are only what the system puts up. I may or may not have backed the horse at 1/7, that is my decision.

Too many bl***y seconds! So far 4/1 2nd, 6/1 2nd and today's Caramelita was 12/1 forecast and I got 12.5 at around mid-day, plus other 2nd's too. Just one or two would change the situation greatly. Probably worth ignoring the short prices but today's 4/7 second was 6/4 this morning.

I am backing all these and 4.75pts down is no real bad thing but it's annoying.

Onwards and begrudgingly upwards I suppose tomorrow.

Re: Trying out some ideas

hi paul you have seconditis sometimes it last for a while
you have to keep going, or you can take a rest and re start when you think your back in the groove

or why not just have a place bet

Re: Trying out some ideas

Hi Paul,
I have done ok this week with my selections, I try & figure out the horses that have a good E/W value & back them this way, I put them in combination as well as single bets, this way if one or more win I get a good return, I think that selecting in this manor, my chance of winning becomes greater, to me its a percentage game, maybe its the wrong way but the main thing is I ENJOY IT, keep going mate.
Kind Regards Roedhelm

Re: Trying out some ideas

Corsica ''ODDS ON '' in a handicap NEVER raced on polytrack never mind Lingfield, Good bet ? NO !

Ransom Note Race fit ? ran well at the course at this trip ? NO , Good bet ? NO

Sorry both flawed and high risk at rediculous short prices, bad punting with neither a stand out.

The Count you are not giving anything to this forum apart from negative comments. Two et stoday and both won, I am happy with that and hope things will progress from here.

Re: Trying out some ideas

Two excellent tips though I try never to back at odds on. However sometimes a system throws up horses who are odds on and if they tower above everything else then what the heck. If I had only backed two horses yesterday and they were the ones then I'd be very happy indeed as I would be in profit and that's the nature of the game.

Re: Trying out some ideas

Thanks Northender. I don't usually bet on so few selections but have only been backing my picks on this thread each day and I really enjoy the discipline of only a few bets each day. It does make it more interesting when you are not betting in every race which I used to quite often do and if you stick around the favoured horses too, which is what my system is usually finding you should get a few winners at least, even if I am still down overall at present.

Will keep going for a bit and see how things go.

Good luck today.

Re: Trying out some ideas

I agree that you do need to try something else paul, i suggest you take up angling, that way you will be well away from the bookies and it should save you a small fortune!

Re: Trying out some ideas

a bit harsh beetlesheen, we all had to larn the hard way

Re: Trying out some ideas

A few weeks ago using the speed figures and the method that I use I had six winners out of six on one day which brought me a tidy sum. The very next day, my five selected qualifiers bombed in a big way - not one was placed. That is the way it goes. We are all using Ian's speed figures to try and achieve some success and if we don't try new things then we will never achieve anything. I say keep trying Paul because the hidden link is in there somewhere. Best of luck!

Re: Trying out some ideas

Quite right northender, I keep posting sarcastic comments to these idiots who use Ians excellent ratings to find the favorite! If all you can find with Ians ratings is the favorite in a race then move on to another race. I have been using the ratings for 3 years now (profitably) but you have to get past the first 2 or 3 in the betting.
