Thanks for creating an up-to-date and bilingual Icelandic chess site following this exciting tournament! As a child of the 70's and the Fischer-Spassky match, I've always been fascinated by chess in Iceland -- probably more players per capita then anywhere on earth (save for Russia?!). The stories about Fridrik Olafsson, the obsession on Grimsey Island, you name it. But I've been somewhat disappointed by the Iceland chess web sites (esp. for a nation almost as enthused about the internet as about chess). Some are not kept up to date, and few offer up to date information in English (at least some of us Americans have trouble with Icelandic). How about some historical commentary IN ENGLISH about chess in Iceland, and also information for club-player visitors to the country about where to go to meet players and enjoy a game? If it's there, I haven't seen it. I also heard that there was a conference in Reykjavik a few days ago commemorating the 30th anniversary of the Fischer-Spassky match, attended by Spassky, the Iceland PM, and other notables. I've found almost nothing on the web about this event in English, though I could enjoy the pix in the Morganbladid. (Incidentally, I visited Iceland with my family this summer and drove the Ring Road -- pictures at: http://www.pbase.com/rboltuck/iceland2002 - I would say my interest was sparked in part by the mania for chess in Iceland, a shared interest). Any reaction?
