Starter Dan Brundage passed away

Daniel L. Brundage of Abington, age 87, passed away at the South Shore Hospital in Weymouth, Thursday, Dec. 24, 2009. Dan was the husband of the late Jessie May (Christian) Brundage. He is survived by his two sons, Daniel A. Brundage and his wife Linda of Abington and Bruce L. Brundage and his wife Judy of Leesburg, Ga., his seven grandchildren, Heather Coy and her husband Dave of South Weymouth, Scott Brundage of South Weymouth, Jessica, Sydney and Lacey Brundage, all of Abington, Jani Dennis and her husband John of Georgia and Dave Brundage of Georgia. Daniel is also survived by his three great-grandchildren, Mathew and Collin of Georgia and Devin of South Weymouth and his daughter-in-law Marcia Brundage of South Weymouth. He is predeceased by his son, Scott H. Brundage. Mr. Brundage was born in Quincy and lived in Concord from 1928 to 1940 before moving to Abington. He owned Brundage Construction Company in Quincy for 40 years and was a retired Sewer Commissioner for Abington. Dan served his country in the Army Air Corps during World War II as a side gunner in a B 24 Bomber and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He was a Flag Starter for the Norwood Arena and the Wiscasset Raceway in Maine. Dan square danced all over New England and was a member of the John Cutler Masonic Lodge of Hanson. A funeral service will be held at the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home, 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.), South Weymouth, Wednesday, Dec. 30, at 10 a.m. Visiting hours will be Tuesday, from 4 to 8 p.m. A Masonic Service will be held by the John Cutler Masonic Lodge, Tuesday at, 7:30 p.m. Interment will be in the Blue Hill Cemetery in Braintree.
