Not sure if anyone here remembers him but my dear friend Miles Nelson passed away unexpectedly at his home in Wendover, NV a few days ago.
He had just returned in great spirits from attending and covering The Indy 500 for his website. We exchanged emails that morning and shortly after that Miles laid back and left us.
He was a terror in his #49 coupe and based in CT he ran Norwood Arena and other tracks in New England and The South in the mid-60s.
A member of the Flemke, Hamilton, MacTavish clan he found himself in Florida and eventually left racing for a 'normal' life.
His passion was The Indy 500 and his days with the NASCAR Modifieds and had wonderful stories to tell of those early days in NASCAR and the characters who were there.
