Although my late father served initially in the Connaught Rangers in Mesopotamia after he was wounded in 1916 he was sent to India and was transferred to the 1st Garrison Battalion of the Royal Irish Rifles.
I have not been able to find out very much about this Garrison Battalion and where it was and what the soldiers in it actually did as I think most of them were recovering from wounds and sickness.
Any information about this would be greatly appreciated
