THE DREAM v THE SHARK II --- 6th June 2008
On Friday 6th June in Newark Qasim fights in the long awaited rematch against Ronnie Clark from Scotland. They first fought in October last year where Qasim won by unanimous decision but had to come through the fire against a hungry strong and aggressive challenge from Ronnie. Following that fight there was much discussion on the status of the fight in regard to if it was to be classed as Pro Am for Ronnie who did not want to give up his amateur status despite it being widely advertised as being Qasim's Professional debut after a distinguished amateur career seeing him win two legitimate World titles with the ISKA and the WPKC. There was also talk that Ronnie did not have enough time to prepare against Qasim first time around when in actual fact he and his camp knew they were fighting Qasim before Qasim knew he was fighting Ronnie. First time around Qasim and the USKA team knew nothing about Clark, They didn't know he was a southpaw, didn't know he fought aggressively going forward, didn't know that he had a massive knockout record and didn't know he was an unbeaten fighter. After finding most of the above the hard way in the first round Qasim made the required adjustments in the corner and won the 2nd to 5th rounds on the score cards to bring home the victory. Ronnie on the other hand going into the fight knew all about Qasim having seen him perform live and after watching the extensive fight footage available on TouTube. Another fact that was not common knowledge in the first fight was that Qasim was carrying a shoulder injury from his last fight three weeks earlier that had given him considerable trouble in his build up. Ronnie 8 months on from that fight has since moved camps to Kickboxing legend and 6 times world champion Lex Easdon's gym to give himself the very best preparation for this rematch. Both fighters have had time to prepare! Both fighters know what they are up against and will have no excuses to fall back on come June 6th! The fight is part of a great card in Newark with a great top of the bill contest between World Champion Wes Fagan and British Champion Steve Swinburn. Other fighters confirmed to fight include: Craig Bradford, Paul Mayfield, Chad Sugden, Scott Allen, Lewis Fallon, Lee Bennett, Sam Allen, Craig Allen, Will Wright We have arranged a coach to leave from Birmingham at 5pm on Friday. To book your place let Qasim or Qasim's mum Rubina know and order you ticket to the event from Neil. Come on guys and girls, It will be a great night, a great fight and we need the USKA army out in full vocal support. Watch the first fight here to wet your appetite on what you will see more of come 6th June. Part 1: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=gyAL3_kjmbU Part 2: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=hNRJew10fVM |

Bad news unfortunately! The Dream broke his toe last week and was going to continue with the fight until he got struck by flu, cough and vomiting, so he wil not be fighting tomorrow. Sorry to break this news out to all who were ready to come and support qasim to victory!!!!!!I know how much everyone wanted to come and see qasim win AGAIN .....! |

Sorry to hear the fights off Qas. I was really looking forward to the rematch. You trained so hard and even with a broken toe you were prepared to fight. Then the flu bug kicked in, you didn't look well when I saw you. I personally would rather see you fight at 100%. Get well soon from me and the family. |

first of all i'd lyk to say that i have never come across a club like ronnies. 1. they are very disrespectful 2. no manners of how to talk to an instructer and 3. coach letting anyone post abuse on websites is way out of order. Ronnies instructer:- "i think you should put a stop to this and apoligise to Neil." As far as Qasim is concerned, He's got nothing to prove. He's been in the ring with Ronnie, fought him and beat him! |

Well I for one am happy that there will be no rematch, it no longer interests me . Things have got out of hand and have turned quite nasty. This topic is no longer about kickboxing and has become personal. The thing that disturbs me about all of this is that I would of thought that Ronnies instructor would have tried to stop this straight away. Respect goes a long way which is what uska have and why they do not respond. |
