On clock faces that use Roman Numerals it seems far more common to me to see a four stroke symbol (IIII) at the 4 O'clock position instead of the Roman Numeral IV that I learned in school. The use of IV seems almost rare on antiques. Why is it that IIII is used so much more than IV on clock faces? |
