Be very careful who you allow to do this work - cheap is not always best - to clean and overhaul a clock of this type (especially after WD40 dosing)if done properly is a time consuming process.
The clock will be in excess of 30years old now and will probably never have been attended to by a professional, £300 appears a reasonable figure for this work if done properly by a competent horologist waiting lists can also suggest a competent restorer-any one who could do the work in a week or two should be viewed with suspicion.
These clocks are generally well constructed, the purchase price is often of little relevance when undertaking repair work and many good clocks are even today still being ruined by incompetent repairers. |
