In Clockmakers & Watchmakers of Scotland, Donald Whyte lists several Lightbody clockmakers in Lanark. There was a James, 1767-86, another James at West Port, Lanark, 1820-41, a John at High Street, Lanark, 1799-1837, another John at Wellgate Street in 1841 and a Thomas around 1780. There can be little doubt that they were all related but what the exact relationship was I have no idea.
Hope that helps!
