Hello Caroline, The clock key fits into each hole on the front and wind them up about 11 half turns or untill fully wound. Put a level, sturdy surface and fit pendulum onto hook and start swing.
Should have an even tick-tock. If uneven put a bit of card under one side to even beat. clockmakers push the crotch to one side to put in beat but unless you know what to push you may break the suspension. I can email pictures of part to push if you email me.
I assume they wood cases so use any good (IE.Colron)polish paste or beeswax. NOT SPRAY as this is usually watered down.
Nicotine is woods worst enemy. That's the brown stuff on the glass and case if present. You can use spray polish on a rag then wipe the stuff off but then polish with wax.
