Since my last post I have been able to trace my husband's family back to Albert Bradt. His ancestors came to Canada from the Mohawk Valley. They were UELs and include Lt.Col. John Butler. I have since found that my ancestors were from the Mohawk Valley also and joined the Butler's Rangers there. They were granted land in Cayuga Twp., Haldimand Co., and came to Pelee Island from there. Reger Bradt had a tevern in Newark (Niagara-on-the-lake)in the late 1700s for a time. |
