You have succeeded in getting an announcement from Rodney Hill. Those of you who take an interest in politics generally may have noticed a discrepancy between announcements and actual delivery.
To nobody's surprise, a local resident (NOT a CAP councillor or CAP member) has now lodged an official complaint regarding the decision, citing 10 counts of maladministration on the part of WLCT. If they are not satisfied with the remedy offered by the council, then they have every right to take this to the Local Government Ombudsman. This could naturally have a detrimental effect on any progress on a skateboard facility at this site.
As this is now in the hands of the Chief Executive of Wigan Council, or ultimately the Local Government Ombudsman, there is nothing that you, I or anybody else can do to influence it, so there is no point in us arguing about it anymore.
The only consolation that I can offer you, is that one of the remedies demanded by the complainant is that an "independent and reliable" assessment should be made of ALL potential sites, and an open and transparent consultation carried out.
If this is eventually achieved, and a satisfactory site identified with a reasonable level of local community support, then I and all the CAP councillors (especially Peter!) will back you to the hilt in making it happen. This is what should have happened 4 years ago, but didn't. |
