I personally post on this and any other site using my personal computer, IP address, and email address.
The IP address attributed to Paul Tushingham is a council IP address - and it does not seem unreasonable for a local councillor to access a local website from his council computer.
The comfusion and false allegations arose from a misunderstanding of how IP addresses are assigned through a corporate gateway.
The same council IP address is used 60% of the time by all users of the council system - including all councillors, council officers, employees of associated organisations, public library users and local schools.
The situation is very different with private broadband or dial-up connections, so I can understand how this misinformation was generated. The world of big organisations is very different from home-computing.
I personally know a lot of people who enjoy taking the **** out of Nigel Ash, not least all those who feel aggrieved by the antics of his "flooding forum" fan club. However, I believe that all of those people are quite open and honest in their opinions, and would no more hide their identity than I would. |
