Welcome - New Guest TASK Members - Mikael & Laura Wood - Finland Internationals
Taisho-Do Karate would like to give a warm welcome to our new guest members - Mikael & Laura Wood from Finland. Mikael & Laura will be competing with us in future UK competitions, with Mikael starting at the Cumbria Open and AMA nationals in June. Their Father/Grandparents are from Filey, North Yorkshire and they both have a great competition record and are valuable additions to our squad. Welcome to TASK and am sure we will make you all very welcome and hope ther will be training during our stay soon A profile of the achievements are - Mikael Wood - 14, blue belt, Shorinji-Ryu, Finnish Club: Renshin Kan. > Finnish junior champion in his age weight category for the last two years. > Has been at tournaments in Estonia, Sweden and the UK. Won his category two > years running at Ticky Donovan's summer camp. > > Laura Wood - 19, brown belt. Wado Ryu, Finnish Club: Tapanilla Era. Junior > silver medalist at WKF world championships, has won tournaments in Estonia, > Italy and Hungary. Member of the Finnish national squad.Fought in Talinn this month at European championships, lost to former world champion by 1 > point in overtime. _________________________________________________ Both lived all their lives in Finland. But travelled to the UK to see their grandparents. Grandparents/father Yorkshire born (and bred), but roots also from the NE - Durham. |
