Tim Horton's Traffic Study Tabled
After reading this article I couldn't help but think of the village board by not allowing drive throughs at Dunkin and the future Starbucks may have contributed to the daily traffic jam or ring around the building at Tim Horton's. The evidence is pretty clear by the line of cars appearing day after day and willing to wait in line that we are after all "a drive through Village". Allow drive throughs at the other locations and perhaps patrons would choose to drive through a shorter line to get their morning coffee. By arbitrarily saying no to Dunkin and Starbucks drive throughs hasn't the board created an unlevel playing field tilted in Tim Horton's favor! |

Any board member who now says that the 2001 board had no idea that the traffic at Tim Horton's would be bad has not spoken accurately. The board's minutes clearly show that traffic was a huge concern of the citizens before the board approved the project. Speakers at board meetings supported these concerns with statistics and standards. The board most definitely knew traffic at that intersection would be a significant problem, but approved the project anyway. The present board will best serve its constituents by seeking a solution, especially one that can be implemented before the Main Street project begins routing traffic down Oakwood. |

I believe this article displays the ignorance of some of our past and currnet board members. To think that Patrick McDonnell didn't even bother to read the traffic study for Tim Hortons and we are paying for this person to be on our village board. How many more blunders like the Tim Hortons drive through can occur before EA turns into the zoning nightmare that is much of WNY. I want to personally thank Art Giacalone for his informitive article and also for his continued passion as I perceive it to fight to protect East Aurora. East Aurora is such a special place and other people think so as well, maybe I should buy the following urban design and planning book for the town board, which believe it or not has reference about EA.
