i will get back to this forum by thursday 10th as to the status of train 3...can anybody fill me in as to the progress of the link to the national rail network? it can't come quick enough!!. A little story..... when the first 2 cars DM and trailer of train 2 arrived back in December(in the pouring rain!!). Myself and three others had the task of scotching the cars after offloading at the depot museum. Then physically pushing them into postion and loading in the semi-permanent drawbar using brake blocking bars slings and a forklift. The joys of being on your back in the drenched four foot trying to locate the drawbar pin!!! it was then "D to D" loose shunted with a service train around A road at ealing to ealing lifting shop where we coupled the cars fully. If you know the track layout at ealing you would know we were praying the service train wouldnt get gapped backing down into the museum as the juice rails end quite far back, we reckon we needed at least 2 motor cars on juice to get all 8 cars up the gradient down A road, a very tedious process Train 2..... again today there was more activity in the depot. I believe metronet/spitfire/bombardier are now awaiting approval from Malcom dobells department (LUL chief rolling stock engineers). But back to train 3...it strikes me they havent got a very efficient/quick comissioning process at the moment so they had better get their act together when the trains are returned more regularly. anyway thats me for now.... will see what info i can squeeze out of them tomorrow.....Daniel |
