Message:   I think you have to remember that what they're doing is reinstating an old connection - rather than building an entirely new one, which I'm sure would have involved a lot more 'red tape'.

The thought originally was that it would enable the D Stocks to go to Ilford for refurbishment, although that's obviously now defunct.

But It does still offer the chance to move the trains by rail via the Romford connection which is of course much more lightly used, and thus onto the 'wider' rail network.

Freight is only rarely seen over the C2C tracks in that area and I'm sure the idea of a freight haulage - particularly during 'passenger' hours - would not be too welcome.
