Hello from Boston, Massachusetts, USA!
TO EVERYBODY: I’m just learning about Nauru and find accounts of the people, history, culture, and geography fascinating. My mainland homes have been in America’s Midwest, West Coast, and (mainly) East Coast. We lived in a small town near Cape Cod which had built clipper ships used in the China Trade, and I helped build much smaller Fibreglas boats during school vacations. Attending a conference on Star Island in the Isles of Shoals (where the explorer, Captain John Smith, landed before reaching the coast of New England), and especially walking a path above the cliffs in silvery moonlight at 2:00 o’clock in the morning, gave me a sense of how different island living feels. My web research says Nauru’s weather is tropical, but is it relatively dry, or humid? What do you find most appealing about living in this unique nation? What are your hopes and dreams for the future? It’s great to be able to get acquainted and share similar, and different, experiences from the other side of the world.
Also, SEPARATELY: I’d like to hear privately from friends of Bill W. and/or Lois W. who are living on Nauru. Please write me directly at
.
Thanks!
Peter |
