what is your opinion on the senior center that may be closed or moved |

I believe the County Commissioners are using the HC Library and the HC Seniors Center as a "Scare Tactic". Perhaps, we should initiate a referendum to bring their PAY down from $40k a year to $200.00 a month. Maybe then we'll get their attention.  Its time for County Government to step up to the plate and admit they've been wrong ... terribly wrong ... in the manner in which they have failed to keep up the facility we currently have so this would not be an issue. It is a result of POOR MANAGEMENT at the County Government level that has placed us in this position. It is almost dispicable what the County Commissioners are doing sending the HC Library Director and others to fight for a new jail. Its so pathetic, I could almost have pity for them.

It's not that we don't care. It's that they should be using this as a scare tactic to force the county voters into saying yes to something that we really don't need to pay as much for as they want to pay. The jail doesn't need to be as big as they say it should, i.e. they don't need that many beds unless they are wanting to pull a profit from it. As I've said in another thread, why don't the Commissioners give up their salary for basically doing nothing. That should fund everything they threaten we'll loose if we don't do what "THEY" "TELL US TO" |

Exactly, *...* IDEA: How about circulating a petition demanding that county commissioners immediately reduce their salaries and benefits by 1/2 to 2/3? |

I wonder if anyone knows if other counties have voluntary commissioners. I really think that's the way to go. |

I believe that if WE the PEOPLE want to reduce the amount of their $40k a year pay to $200.00 a month, this is the correct way to go.
