The settles resto could very well go into effect. It just isn't going to last long when it does. We have a practically empty mall, a VERY dead downtown area, and I can think of off hand at least 3 businesses that have closed in the last year. |

Not to mention, when these bonds, jail, and property values tax us to death, who is going to go spend money at the settles? Local admin is already setting this thing up to fail. |

JE the quistion was Can you find any-thing good about Big Spring? If so, sure would like to see it here on Freedom. You say what you think is bad, can you find any-thing you like? Yes we have the good and the bad. I belive, if all the good bands togather they can over ride the bad. What harm can it do to try? *...* |

Letting the good override the bad will get you in some very bad spots my friend. Of course I find good, but the bad is starting to creep it's head out and need not be ignored anymore. What started as a leaky pipe is now flooding our basements. |

JE Yes, standing up to the big boy can lead to a bad-boy reputation.People are afraid. You did make a true statement ( leaking pipe can flood the basement). Why wait until that leak wash the whole town away? We do not want that to happen? FIX IT NOW It will not get any better until people (as a whole) stand-up to the big boy. This is not thier town this town belongs to the people. I love my home town and want it cleaned up and start to grow. You guys on this forum have good answers so put them in the right place to do the best good. GO TO THE VOTING BOOTH, that is where you can beat them. Renovating old buildings. A decrepit old jail where Boston locked up its most notorious prisoners, re-opeded. After five years and $$$$million the old jail is now Liberty Hotel. You guys have a good day |

Check out the other Settles Hotel thread on this forum. There I've shared numerous examples of historic rehab properties. It is my understanding that BSISD is discussing the sale of the old Runnels Jr. High property this afternoon at the school board meeting. |
