ONE town hall meeting???

I can't believe that with an issue as important as the jail bond, officials can only give us ONE night to ask questions and TRY (yah, right) to get answers. Last year there were AT LEAST 3 or 4 town hall meetings trying to convince us that a new jail was necessary... and this year we only get 1. Mr Munoz threatens to close our current jail again but can only devote ONE night to meeting with the citizens and answering questions.

Not everyone in this county sits home trying to find something to do. As it turns out, I have a previous committment for the night of the meeting and will not be able to attend due to this obligation. AREN'T THEY LUCKY...I'm sure they are breathing a sigh of relief for that!!!

It's an extremely important meeting (for which 40 people will probably show up if past voting records mean anything ) and citizens are expected to drop everything and make it to ONE meeting.

When I asked at the county commissioners meeting if there would be more meetings, as I would be unable to make this one, I was told that this was all the TJC could come to and that I could watch the meeting on our public access TV when it is broadcast...and that means I could ask questions to WHO?!?!?!?

Re: ONE town hall meeting???

I agree, Rita. I'm afraid the County Commissioners are 'figuring' that too much information caused the last Taj Majal jail bond item to fail. It will be interesting to see if those in the audience are allowed to directly question Munoz...

Re: ONE town hall meeting???

I've been seeing a number of the "no taj mahal jail" sings popping up in Big Spring as of late. Seems like this isn't as slam dunk as the commissioners seem to assume it is.
As a matter of fact, beyond this forum, In my day to day life I have yet to find one person who intends to vote yes.
When you factor in that they have a horrible track record of taking care of jails, want to raise taxes, then raise property values in relation to the jail to get more taxes. Who would?
