Federal Prison wind turbines?
A reliable source informed me that three or more wind turbines may be built on the grounds of the Big Spring Federal prison. Was a petition circulated among the local aviation community protesting the construction of the wind turbines on account of air safety concerns? I hope that this will allow wind turbines to be placed at the Big Spring State Park, an economic development idea I proposed proposed a few years ago, the wind farm dollars helping keep our state park running and the turbines being ACCESSIBLE eco-tourist magnets for Big Spring now that towers are being considered west of Hwy 87 by the FAA, etc. I can envision outdoor advertising signs on I-20 and Hwy 87 reading Stand beneath GIANT wind turbines! I believe the wind turbines will be of the much smaller variety. I have actually done construction at wind farms before, both for GE and Gamesa type turbines. Very interesting deals. |

I agree with you, no one goes to the state park to do anything but walk anyway. |
