Poem; The Forever Broken Heart

I walked away from you a long time ago.
I stayed away for years, I thought I had let you go.
My denial was buried.
But only on the surface.
Dreams came out of no where.
Sleepless nights and daylight thoughts.
Memories revisited.
They just would not stop.

One day I found myself calling you.
Meeting with you.
Talking with you.
Oh God! You have always been there in my heart.

I walked away once more.
The pain I felt for how life was,
I just could no longer cope.
This heart breaking all over again.
This aching, yearning and obsession.
It just had to stop!

Here it is again.
I'm talking once again.
Trying to reach you.
Yet, I'm not!
To think in the beginning it all seemed so promising.
Loving you still.
No end in sight.
I take what comes.
For it is all that I have got.
I'm the forever broken heart.
