Reckoning (A Poem)

Sea's of ancients.
Tides of time.
Drinking of the water,
so that youth may be mine.
Longing for it... thirsting for it...
Tasting the wild sweetness.
The outer air will no longer go uncloaked.
Whose garments of the rough salt wave
are soaked.
Flinging my tresses on the stream,
my friend of the sea's has cygnet and grieved.
Watching often for my returning beam.
A hundred years, and a hundred years more.
Mourning upon this reedy shore.
Legion's of clouds stood forth in their darkening;
yet no rain followed the thunder's roar.
All the while beneath ancient sea's shrank,
as fire not seen,
was born.
Souls stricken,
their bodies fled.
Free falling,
reeling with pierced and shriveled eyes.
Water poising youth's promise,
As the living become the walking dead.
