Mason City criminal history?
I grew up in Mason City and lived there when Jodi was abducted. I moved away nearly 10 years ago and haven't been back since. I have read through the messages posted here and am very curious to know more about the seedy side of River City. I have lived in big cities since leaving MC, and have always felt safer than I did when I lived in MC. I guess what I mean is that there are two sides to MC; one is the Meredith Willson/"Music Man", wholesome side, which is what I grew up on. People like to push that image as much as possible. But at the same time, there is a really creepy side to Mason City; I vaguely remember a murder in an abandoned junior high in the early/mid 80s. My husband grew up in Iowa City and can't really recall many creepy murders/crimes taking place there, whereas I can remember a few, most notably Jodi's case. I live out of the country now and have tried to do my own research online about MC's criminal past, but nothing really comes up. I was wondering whether someone would be so kind as to share any information/knowledge here. Thanks! |

Yes, MC and Cerro Gordo county in general, is a scary place. Lots of drugs and underground crime. |
