i was asking somebody on myspace that worked with jodi and i got this back.
um, wow. this has got to be the most random myspace message i've ever gotten.
in fact, given that there's nothing on my profile linking me to mason city, let alone that i worked at kimt when jodi was abducted, it's a little... weird.
this is what i know:
i do not personally know for sure that she was involved with any kind of drug use because my only interactions with her were at the station, and then not regularly because i didn't work on the morning show. i didn't like her, i hardly ever talked to her.
everything i have heard is heresay, i knew people who have claimed they did drugs with her, i heard rumors from other coworkers about her behavior, i heard rumors from people with connections to the less savory side of mason city that she was deeply in debt to some dealers.
knowing what i did of her, and the people who told me what they saw, it's plausible to me. i can't tell you for sure yes or no because i don't know.

Keep in mind that just because you are very close to someone, doesn't mean you know whether or not they do drugs. Some people are good at hiding it. I myself used to do drugs and some of the people closest to me never knew it. People who do drugs don't usually tell people who don't do drugs. You might be surprised.

This guy John seems to come up in a lot discussions. I have heard he was cleared of everything, but still dont know. If he was talking about Knowing what happened to Jodi he needs to explain that. If he ever said anything like that he needs to be called on it. I mean "bar talk" usually is BS. It is still inappropriate. IF he does know, he needs to show up anonomously on this board and leave a tip if it is too dangerous for him to reveal his identity.

Re: i was asking somebody on myspace that worked with jodi and i got this back.
I am a close member of Jodi's family, and I have been a silent observer to this website for a while now. Originally I had decided to remain in the background, but after reading some of the malicious comments about Jodi and questions of her character that have been posted here (i.e. drug use and everything else that has been discussed) in and attempt to slander her name, I feel compelled to fight for her good name since she is not here to do it for herself. I can tell you right now that Jodi was not involved with drugs...PERIOD. If you all would've known her as well as I did, the idea of it would seem absolutely ludicrous to you. Jodi was as clean and put-together as they come! She was ambitious, hard-working, and an inspiration to those around her. She loved her family and friends and would do anything for them at the drop of a hat. Her personality and charm would flow through any room that she was in, lifting even the saddest of spirits. She loved life and lived it to its fullest, and she is very missed by everyone who loved her. The positives continue on and on when talking about Jodi...
I realize that you are trying to help solve an unsolved crime, but please be tactful in the words you use and the theories you develop...while to many this is just a case, to us, she is a part of our hearts, and it hurts to read such offensive suggestions.
Thank you

I am glad you posted. I have been upset with the false lead and wild unfounded and hurtful comments about Jodi.
I have been following and working on this case for 11 years and know in my heart that Jodi was a sweet sensitive woman. Her spirit has pulled in people from all over to help find her. And most of us have grown to love her sweet spirit even if we didn't know her before.
Enough is enough... email each other if you must spread vulgar rumors, but leave this web site for compassionate people who truly want Jodi found.

Thank you for your post "anonymous", I third that! I grew up in Long Prairie and knew Jodi. I was not a close friend of hers, but I know enough about her and her close friends (some of who were my friends as well) and I can tell you she would NOT do drugs. "anonoymous" described Jodi to a T. Leave the slander private. This site is meant to HELP not tear down.
Thank you

Re: i was asking somebody on myspace that worked with jodi and i got this back.
I find it troubling that guesta1 went to all the trouble of tracking someone down on Myspace so he could come back on here and post the former employee's response on here. As quoted in the message, the former employee has no link to MC or past employment on the their page and evens questions the message as "the most random myspace message ever". The manner in which the former employee writes back is as if they don't know the person who posed the question in the first place.
Maybe it was bad form for the former employee to speculate on hearsay and brief interactions between themselves and Jodi, but I'm sure the response would have been different if Guesta1 hadn't baited them and had informed them that he was going to run back here and post their response.
Guesta1, what was the point of this? Why go to all the trouble?? Why was the original question you asked not posted? Why not the whole conversation? How did you know this person, let alone that they worked at KIMT...they obviously don't know you. To quote the former employer "it's a little...weird"
If you want to do "investigative reporting" with half-ass facts and sensationalizing the juicy parts of the story without thinking about hurting the people who truly care about Jodi and this case.... I'm sure Fox is hiring.

Re: i was asking somebody on myspace that worked with jodi and i got this back.
Just to clear this up.. I am the former employee quoted in the first post on this thread.
I did *not* know who "guesta1" was when he messaged me, though I later found out how he knew who I was.
His original email to me was horrible, full of name calling and awful assumptions. I wrote the email to clear up the fact that, yes, I had heard such rumors, but no, I have no idea whether or not they are true. I hardly knew Jodi but for a handful of times when she filled in on the evening news, the shows did not ever go well and there was a sort of not-fondness based around those few shows. I didn't know her or interact with her personally so really all I could ever tell anyone was what I heard around the station and around the city later on.
I had NO IDEA whatsoever that "guesta1" would take my reply and slap it up on this forum. I deeply apologize to anyone that was offended by it. Everything I ever heard was completely heresay, and I certainly can't testify one way or the other to anything about Jodi, personally.

Stop The Rumors--Know The TRUTH
I read these messages and don't respond, but after reading this last one, I feel I need to. Basically, "Anonymous" and "Lived in LP" have it right--Jodi was not into drugs and promiscuous behavior as the people speculate. When you grow up with someone, you know their makeup, the knitting circle here has her personality wrong--you're talking about the antithesis of Jodi. I know, I grew up with her.

Even if she was a casual drug user SO WHAT??? This doesn't change anything, ALCOHOL is a drug that just happens to be legal so it is accepted. She was not a junkie or anything like that.

Re: i was asking somebody on myspace that worked with jodi and i got this back.
You stated there was a guy that was basically stalking jodi worked for a construction company and there was a area that was backfilled that day now that sounds fishy. Was this site dug up by authorities and if not why? were his friends given lie detector test at the construction company and were all the company vans checked out? The entire construction company and everyone of there job sites should have been gone over with a fine tooth comb and if they haven't the authorities better have good explanation why not.The sad part is so much time has gone by there probably wont be any evidence recovered unless this guy starts talking.

Re: jane doe
I am just curious, did JV's construction company have anything to do with building sow hog confinements? Also wondering, did Jodi have several interviews with Mr. Jack DeCoster in the few days before her disappearance? This curiousity comes from a few sources (they don't know each other) that have stories that are so close that there has to be a connection. These people both say that Jodi was interviewing Jack DeCoster about his confinements and he didn't like that so he had a couple of his illegal immigrants take care of it. I have heard a little more but do not want to post it on here for respectful reasons. e-mail piggirl76@yahoo.com
