Some questions
This is posted from the website.
An attacker is believed to have struck Jodi as she attempted to insert the key into the door of her red Mazda Miata. The key was bent in the lock. The blood evidence at the scene indicates Jodi was injured and fighting for her life. In an apparent effort to fend off her attacker Jodi drops a pair of red dress shoes, her purse, a hair dryer, a bottle of hair spray, car keys and earrings. Part of the evidence at the scene was a palm print. Police also recovered other evidence at the scene.
I would like to know what the OTHER EVIDENCE is that the police have. Also on the web site it says she was at a golf tournament until fairly late the night before her abduction. I wonder if anyone owned a light colored van that was at that golf tournament. Could this have been planned quickly like that night? I think someone with just a few details like where she lived, what car she drove, and approx what time she left for work could have pulled this off. Also I hate to say this but I have always wondered if a co-worker could have been involved in some way. Could someone from the station have been in contact with the person or persons from the van? Just some questions and thoughts. Jim can you answer any of these?

Re: Some questions
Surfer,
There are some unanswered questions about the evidence found in Jodi's parking lot.
Jodi usually carried the items she took to work with her in a canvas tote bag. Among those items were her hair dryer, hair spray and a pair of red high heeled shoes. All of these items were found in her parking lot.
Her canvas tote bag in which she usually kept her small brief case that contained her address books has never been found.
The photos of the debris field that I have do not show Jodi's ear rings or her small blue clutch purse but do show a single, unbent, key that appears to be either the door or ignition key for her Mazda Miata sports car.
Some unanswered questions:
Most of us carry our keys on a key ring rather than loose in our pockets so how did an individual key end up in the parking lot ? Why would a person or persons bent on what appears to be a sex crime be interested in a canvas tote bag and it contents ?
My conjecture is that Jodi was unlocking the passenger's side door of her car in order to place her tote bag on the passengers seat when she was attack from behind, screamed and was struck in the head. While being dragged to the assailant's van some of the contents of her tote bag were strewn about in the parking lot.
All of the personnel at KIMT were very thoroughly checked out by MCPD, IA DCI and the FBI. Although anything is possible Jodi was probably the victim of someone that had a good knowledge of her personal life but who did not work at the TV station.

Re: Some questions
Been on and off this site for a while, reading everyones posts. Saw the interviews with you Jim as an investigator of the case on the internet archive of the KAAL news archive. A couple things that struck me here. When this crime occurred it was raining in the area. I checked the weather archives and it had rained a fairly significant amount. The overcast sky would have allowed it to stay dark longer for an escape from the scene. The other thing is a regular van would not be able to go too far off the normal roads to dispose of a body, at least not immediately. Nor would the ground be condusive to digging to much. I dont know the area but there is a river behind the complex? Are there several rivers in the area? Was it flooding from the rains??? In regards to leaving the scene. What is the best route out of town???? Would a killer take the back road out? Would he go straight to the highway?

Re: Some questions
It amazes me that 2-3 people heard screams at that hour and did not investigate, nor call the police. The abductor or abductors would not have known that though. I would think there would have been some frantic effort to leave the area as quick as possible. How much investigation was done on the van??? Were there ever any leads on that van? I mean smaller towns are very funny when it comes to giving up information. I would think there would have been a lot of tips about the vehicle.

Re: Some questions
This man who saw the van, just where was he positioned? How many people did he see? And why didn't he look out when she started screaming? I know if it had been me I would have been peeking out the curtains wondering what the hell was going on instead of ??? What? Going back to sleep? Come on now!
And then if I had heard screams? My nose prints would have been pressed into the glass looking out the window.
SOMETHING DOESN'T ADD UP HERE!

Re: Some questions
The man who saw the van parked in the lot was on his way to work travelling south on Kentucky Avenue. He described the location of the vehicle as just east of the entrance to Jodi's apartment building pointing toward the street with the parking lights on. It was a quick glance he gave it on his way down Kentucky. It was in his vision in the parking lot for less than 30 seconds.
As for the screams and people hearing them and not calling 911. What can I say? It's hard to believe someone didn't look out a window and to see what was going on. I agree. Just think if one person just looked out and could describe the scene.
Maybe there was such a witness and hasn't come forward yet, but is prepared to.

Re: Some questions
That was either a well thought stalker or that was someone looking to eliminate her for some reason. I dont see that being random at all. A white van in a town that size would stand out. I would be interested in hearing the information the police actually have. Maybe they have more than they are letting on.

Re: Some questions
ok I lived in the same building, it was dark, when I heard the screams, I did look out my window, had no idea what time it was, I thought it was coming from across the river. I heard the vehicle drive off, to me it sounded like it went north. I saw the marks where they found items. Now I also saw a white van about a week or two before Jodi was abducted, they were parked just east of the entrance to that building, it was parked just below her apartment. I saw two people in that van. When I started to get out of my car the driver started to get out of his. I got back in my car backed out and went to work, never getting what I originally went home to get. Could they have been delivering newspapers, I don't know, didn't stick around to find out yet, they had done nothing wrong that I could (at that time) turn them in for. I pray to God he will help me remember some other things from that night/early morning. I think I only heard the screams because of my open bedroom window and I know the hallway window was open I think that helped carry the sound around the building. I remember once hearing a noise and going out the hall and looking out the hall window and stooping at the top of the steps to see if I could see something, my problem is I honestly can't say if I did this on that night or another night. I can remember someone coming to Jodi's apartment one night and her telling him to leave I don't know when that was. It was a sound that was a little louder than normal but not threatening, an apartment sound. I worked a swing shift so I worked different hours other day, so I saw things but I can't say they were good, bad, or normal. I have often wished that this never happened, but since it did I wish it would have been one of the mornings I would have been working because I would have been up then and much more alert as to time and what was happening instead of a morning that I didn't go to work until 2nd shift so I was awoke from a sound sleep, once for the screams, and later by the police. Now I pray daily that Jodi is found, her family gets much needed closure and Jodi is home where she belongs Not everyone heard the screams, the lady below her was running her air conditioning so she never heard anything
